BIOGRAPHY
When Devon was a child, the Gummersalls moved
from Durango to Los
Angeles in California. He attended the Notre Dame High School.
As a big movie fan (according to him, he kept playing whole scenes from
movies and used to drive his family crazy with this), Devon then
decided
to give this 'adventure' a try and got engaged for his first 'role' at
the age of 10, in a commercial for Stouffer.
After a few roles in different TV shows and movies (My Girl, Beethoven
2, Step by Step, DrQuinn Medicine Woman), Devon got a recurring role as
Brian Krakow in My So-called Life
in 1994.
He is still well-known for this role and lots of fans still remember
Devon as Brian. Unfortunately, the show got cancelled after only one
season, even though fans kept fighting for my so-called life to be
picked up for another season.
Besides a lot of appearances in episodes from various TV show
(Relativity in 1996,
Felicity in 1998, Without a Trace, The L-Word et Monk in 2004), Devon
also played Sean DeLuca in 8 episodes of the TV show Roswell in
2001.
We can also appreciate his talent in various movies and TV movies. In
1999, he has a big role in 'Lured Innocence' (alongside Dennis Hopper, Marley Shelton and Talia Shire) as well
as in Dick (with Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams).
In 2001 et 2002, he has the leading role in 'Earth vs the Spider' then
'The Anarchist Cookbook'. In 2004, he played in
Reeker and Dead & Breakfast.
And, last but not the least, Devon is a writer, director and producer
himself! He directed 2 shorts: 'Something More' in 2003 (he also
co-produced it) and 'Robbing 'Hef' (which he wrote as well) in 2002.
AWARDS
He was nominated twice and won the 'best young
actor' award in 1995 for his acting in My so-called life. The whole
cast also received the 'Young cast best performance in a teen show'
award.
